Minilith is the lowest powered mono block which we manufacture. It is rated at 200watts continuous power into 4 ohms, 400 watts into 2 ohms and 600watts into 1 ohm.
The two crossovers are 24dB/Octave where the HP is variable from 11 to 48Hz and the LP from 40 to 235Hz. A one band parametric equalizer allows boost/cut of any frequency 26 to 160Hz where the Q control varies the bandwidth.
Our monoblocks are somewhat unique in that we offer FIVE inputs. The first four accommodate the front/rear signals from the head. This allows constant subwoofer fading. The fifth does double duty. First it works as a single mono input which typically is used with heads which have mono LP outputs. Secondly it is the input for use in BRIDGE mode. The LINE OUT is only used when two Miniliths are bridged. It supplies the antiphase output to the slave amplifier. Two Miniliths when bridged shall deliver 1,200 watts into a 2 ohm load.
The main power amplifier in Minilith is a Pulse Width Modulated (Class D). This circuit which was developed by Zed features a feedback system which allows a higher than normal Damping factor to be realized. Read about Damping Factor in our Tech Talk link. A servo controller ensures that the DC offset at the speaker terminals is less than 0.01volt. The inputs are fully balanced using our Differential Drive circuit.
The power supplies are fully regulated and there are no less than FOUR separate sets of these. The main high current pair run the output stages, a regulated +/- 14v pair run the control circuits of the main PWM amplifier, a 15 volt supply from it's own transformer runs the driver chipset of the PWM amp and the last pair which also run from a separate transformer supply DC to the preamplifiers. This isolation assures minimum interference from one amplifying stage to the next. The main high current supply uses a bank of FIVE 2,200mfd capacitors together with TWELVE high current Mosefets as the main switching elements in the power supply and the pair of high speed switching diodes, through a common mode choke, feed another bank of 18,800mfd for the main amplifier's supply. Since the power supply runs at about 60 KHz this is ample capacitance to assure full power at 10Hz.
The mechanical parts were chosen for reliability and cosmetics. RCA sockets are solid gold plated machined brass types with teflon inserts. The power and speaker connectors are again solid gold plated machined brass types. The Power terminals accept up to #4 wire and the speaker #8.
